Dr. Doray Explains What  Dental Crowns Are Made Of

At Pamela G Doray DMD our dental crowns are most often made of porcelain. These porcelain crowns are very carefully designed and shaded so that they blend optimally with your natural teeth and other restorations. Many people choose porcelain crowns for their cosmetic appearance and the confidence it gives them.

In some cases, such as bridges replacing missing teeth or where there are heavy functional demands, we build our porcelain crowns over a metal substructure for increased strength. Dr. Doray designs these crowns so that the metal is not visible in your smile. Even our crowns with the metal substructure look natural and cosmetic.

Crowns also can be made of all gold.  This is occasionally a personal preference of certain patients. Dr. Doray will be happy to discuss the types of materials available if we recommend a crown.

Call us at (215) 772-3100 for a complete evaluation of your cosmetic needs.
